Kindergarten – 2nd Grade

Ryan talks to the younger students about the life of Little Lakey Lynn, the main character from the Lakey Lynn picture book series.  Ryan discusses fears, habits, and internal strength while encouraging creativity through problem solving.

Junior High – High School

The world is changing, and so are the expectations on kids as they enter college and the job market.  It is just as likely to see an option for a portfolio on an online application as it is a resume.  Ryan discusses the opportunity to create content and built a personal ‘brand’ to make sure kids are sending the right message.

3rd – 6th Grade

With the older elementary kids, Ryan discusses the Sugarbeet Falls novels and how Xander uses his family gift to conjure up superheroes to help him through challenges.  Students then help Ryan create a brand new superhero with all kinds of powers and challenges.

Parent Discussions

Ryan loves to discuss all of the themes he shares with the students, with their parents.  Creativity brings opportunity, and fostering creativity is important at home as well as at school.

What Are The Experts Saying?

It was a great pleasure to welcome Ryan Acra to our school. Ryan spent the entire day with my fifth grade students and spoke at length about his journey in becoming a writer. He presented with humor and professionalism and the children were engaged throughout. His presentations were visual, interactive, and interesting. They exposed the children to his series Sugarbeet Falls, gave them insight as to what the life and work of an author involves, and inspired the students to continue reading and writing themselves.  It was a terrific experience for all of the children and I hope to have Ryan back again next year!

Kris M. – 5th Grade Teacher
Beverly Vista School

“Ryan Acra is amazing author who has a knack for connecting with students. He uses creativity in his presentations and makes his Sugarbeet Falls characters come to life. Ryan came into our school and did full day writing workshops, and inspired all students to write short stories about super heroes. He brings energy and motivation to his presentations about his journey as a writer. He is relatable and exciting for kids. He can design his presentations to your school’s goals and needs. He can speak spontaneously or with more guidance. I highly recommend bringing Ryan to your school.”

Jon K. – Principal
Lincoln Elementary

“Over the last two years I have had the pleasure of Ryan coming to speak to my students. His presentations are fun and engaging for all that attend. Some of the things the students enjoy the most are that he involves them. Ryan takes the students through the process that he uses to create a super hero and their background. He also encourages the students to draw and not to worry about what others think about their art. For weeks after his visit I had students bringing me pictures of their own super hero that they wanted shared with Ryan.”
